Cranfield Airport - Safeguarding
Airport safeguarding is a process that is established to ensure that aircraft taking off, landing or flying in the vicinity of an airport can do so safely and that all appropriate measures have taken place - from a safeguarding perspective - to secure this safety.
Airport safeguarding functions have several aspects including :
- Technical Safeguarding
- Airport Navigational Equipment
- Physical Safeguarding
Cranfield Airport have site-specific safeguarding maps that are lodged with five local planning authorities namely Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council, Milton Keynes Council, Aylesbury Vale Council and Northamptonshire Council. The maps have been produced and distributed to indicate to a Local Planning Authority the types of development where consultation with Cranfield Airport is required.
